Talking Heads

Alan Bennett

19-22nd September 2001

About The Plays

Offering three of these wonderful monologues, originally written for television, each in its own way reflecting Bennett's marvellously observant view of the British way of life. Presented in the intimate atmosphere of the Studio at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts, they are touching and real - and very funny!

Alan Bennett's imagination, as usual, runs riot in these monologues and we see a wealth of characters through the eyes of three individuals. Bennett comments: "they could have been written as complete plays, but then they would be different stories, more objective, rounded...instead there is a single point of view, that of the speaker alone. They don't quite know what they are saying and are telling a story to the meaning of which they are not entirely privy".
