Well, the sun has started to shine, and once more MDG's thoughts turn to our summer sojourn in the grounds of Ridgeway School – this year with another great Shakespearean comedy: The Merry Wives of Windsor .
For over 400 years Shakespeare's great comedy has been performed throughout most of the world. Its widespread appeal owes much to the highly individualized characters the Bard created: the foolish magistrate his nephew, the garrulous matchmaker, the lecherous ex-soldier, the jealous husband and the flirtatious wives. The passions displayed in Shakespeare's most farcical play are still relevant today and, with this in mind, we have set it in the present Royal Borough.
In addition to a spectacular performance, we can offer you a delicious pre-theatre home-made, two course supper in the marquee (or you can bring your own picnic and sit in the delightful grounds), and don't despair - in case of rain we will perform in the marquee! The licensed bar is open from 6pm for refreshments, also serving coffee and cakes in the interval.
