The Maidenhead Pantomime - Jack the Giant Killer

Richard Wildman

15th-19th December 2004

Auntie Blubb

Follow Jack as he battles the evil spider queen Arachnia and her foul, nasty ally the giant Bezzidoze. Can Jack fulfill his destiny and save the land? Will he free the king, queen and the royal court from Arachnias magic web?

For the last 18 years the kingdom has been under the rule of the evil spider queen Arachnia and her accomplice Bezzidose the giant. Whilst Arachnia rules, using a stolen fairy wand to cast her wicked spells, the true king, queen and royal family remain locked up and frozen in a magic web in the castle treasure room. The people live in fear and poverty, working hard to afford to pay the extortionate taxes levied by Arachnia, waiting for the missing prince to return and save them all. Arachnia and the giant meanwhile squander the money, inviting criminals and monsters to parties at the palace to celebrate her reign.

Unbeknownst to Jack who lives with Aunty Blub and his pet dog Magic in the village, he is the missing prince, who will have to stand up and claim his birth right, fight the giant and the evil spider queen and free the land. During his travels, accompanied by Aunty, Magic and their horse Velvet, he will meet the jobs-worth Slap and his crazy partner Tickle. Cross feathers with a boxing chicken and defeat monsters with pies. To finally fall in love with the fairy who saved his life when he was just a baby. All this, with enough time left to set wrong to right and get home in time for tea.

Will Jack save the day? You’ll have to wait and see!

This traditional style pantomime brings booable baddies, thigh slapping heroes and magical fairies together with a sassy dame, a boxing chicken and of course a lovable panto horse.

It's good family fun for all ages with lots of audience participation, so come help us cheer our heroes and boo at the baddies!

Maidenhead Drama Guild are pleased to help the drive to get more blood donors this christmas. See www.blood.co.uk for more details.
